Nepal
People. Places. Culture. Life.
THESE IMAGES DO NOT BELONG TO ME
Why This Page?
If you couldn't guess by the title of this page, Nepal holds a special place in my heart. Even though Nepal is the oldest country in Asia, it is not well-recognized by the world. There have been many issues with people stating incorrect facts about Nepal, which has deeply affected the Nepali community back home and abroad.
With this page, I aim to bring more light to a beautiful country full of warm-hearted people and rich culture. Join me as we take this journey together.
WHAT IS NEPAL?
Background Information
The country of Nepal is located on the Asian continent, sandwiched between India and China. The people of Nepal are called Nepali, which is also the national language. The capital city is Kathmandu.
Nepal has 100+ ethnic groups and is home to 3 (out of many more) unique aspects: the flag, nature, and religion. Its flag is the only flag in the world that is not quadrilateral in shape. The Himalayan mountain range stretches across the north, while the south is filled with thick jungles and plain landscapes. Nepal has 8 out of 10 of the highest mountain peaks in the world, including the highest: Mount Everest (Sagarmatha in Nepali). The founder of Buddhism, Siddharth Gautam (Gautam Buddha) was born in Lumbini, Nepal.
Despite the British colonizing India in the south, and China going through major political and social changes in the north, Nepal has never been colonized by any country. Therefore, Nepal does not have Independence Day.
