September 8, 2025.

I woke up today to the most heartbreaking news from Nepal, my motherland. As of now, 19 people have been killed in the protests, and over 100 are injured. Most of them were under 28 years of age. Some were just 15 or 16 years old—children. Most of them were shot in the head or chest with real bullets. Real bullets. Fired at kids who were protesting for their futures. These bullets were not used with the intention to “disperse a crowd.” Most of the tear gas used didn't have expiration dates on them either, so the crowd was being suffocated. These means were used to silence an entire generation. Killing children is not just “politics.” It’s not just “unrest.” It’s murder, and it’s happening in the streets where my family lives, while I sit halfway across the world feeling helpless.

I’m saying this out loud because silence is not an option. If you’re hearing this, or reading this, please don’t scroll past. Look up what’s happening in Nepal. Share it. Talk about it. The world needs to know. I don’t have millions of followers. I don’t have global influence. But when I started Alikhit, I told myself it was for my country, as are most things that I do in my life. So as long as I have this platform, I’ll use it.

The biggest question to ask yourself is—if a government can shoot its own children in the head for speaking out, what does it say about freedom, about justice, about humanity?

If you care about human rights, if you care about freedom, if you care about kids being able to live to see tomorrow—please amplify this. Pressure your governments, your human rights organizations, your communities to pay attention.

The children of Nepal are the future, and fight for the future we must. Jai Nepal.
