Books and Covers

I'm pretty sure you've all heard of the statement, "Don't judge a book by its cover". Well, have you done it? Have you judged a book by it's cover? By it's actions? By it's characteristics?

High school can change people, it can develop new emotions and feelings towards a number of kids. Things change, situations are different, people "grow up". However, the most important factors to keep in mind are the problems that others face. Others might have a hard time with different things (homework, relationships - inside and outside, etc.), and everything that we stand for, it can differ from person to person.

My point is, don't get mad at that friend who never shows up for lunch anymore, or never seems to get the right answers, even if they did before; the friend that doesn't help you with your stuff as they used to. Because the most caring people are the ones who listen to your personal problems, even if they're trying to climb their own Everest. They might be the ones that are smart, and seem to catch everyone's attention; but they have their own hardships. They have their own bullies to stand up to.

Be grateful that they are still giving you their attention and are trying their best to be present in the moment. Sometimes, what you notice about someone's behavior doesn't tell the whole story; sometimes, there's more to the cover than it seems.
